Anxieties Affect on the Body

We all have a natural survival instinct. This is commonly termed the fight or flight response. When a danger is perceived this survival instinct naturally triggers certain changes within the body, to enable the person to deal with the threat. If there is actual danger these changes could well save the life of the individual as they enable access to greater strength and speed. It enables the individual to either fight or flee the situation. The trouble with anxiety issues is that the perceived threat is not a genuine danger, but that the body is treating as if it is. For Reference only- There are seven main types of anxiety issues recognized by psychiatrists and psychotherapists. Treatment of an anxiety issue can occur without diagnosis. These are: Specific Phobias An irrational overwhelming fear, of a specific object or situation such as: spiders; frogs; heights; pigeons, snakes, airplanes, thunder and lightening, dogs. Binge Eating and a Weight Issue

Binge eating is defined as uncontrollable eating of excessive amounts of food in a relatively short period of time. People often feel embarrassed and ashamed of having this problem however they are unable to stop because they have a compulsive urge to eat. Estimates are that between 0.7-4 percent of the US population suffer from this eating disorder. People who binge eat when not hungry and can continue to consume the food even after they feel uncomfortably full.
